All About Me!

This is the last week of our "Community Helpers" unit. We've had so many wonderful visitors from the community!! The children have learned so many new things and had a blast at the same time!

Next week we will begin our "All About Me" unit. We'll be learning about who we are, and sharing with our friends a little about each of our families. On Monday we will start making "All About Me" books. We will add to it over the next three weeks. Great things to talk about with the children at home are addresses and phone numbers. Our unit contains a segment on reciting both, and they are so proud of themselves when they can do it!

Nursery Rhymes

For the next five weeks we will be teaching the children all about Nursery Rhymes. We will be acting the rhymes out as well. This week the children are learning about Wee Willie Winkie. Well, this is the end of Nursery Rhymes and onto the next unit. Next week is all about Valentines. We will also be having a Valentines Party. Stop by your childs classroom to sign up for something!

Our color unit has been a great success. We hope you can tell at home also. The week Of September 13th will start our Opposites unit.
Are you having trouble remembering each week what your balance is? A great way to help with that is to join our EFT Program. Each week we will automatically deduct your balance from your account. You will be provided with a reciept at the beginning of each week so you will know exactly the amount that will be taken out. We have so many parent's that love this option because it helps them to not have to remember a check each week between all the hustle and bustle of daily activities.Stop in today and get the details!

Colors of Fall

We are hoping that by exploring all of our colors in class, we will actually start to see the colors of Fall begin to appear. We can't wait for that crisp cool air that goes along with all the beautiful colors of the season that your child will now be able to identify since we have been studying all of them! This next week will be Brown, Black, and Pink. Hopefully everyone is remembering what day to wear their colors on. Do not fret! we have them posted on all the doors as a friendly reminder for everyone to see. Check out our pictures up front took, to see how much fun we have been having with this unit. As the weather is beginning to cool down, all of us at TLC are getting into the full swing of the school year. Our unit this week has been Blue and Green. It is so exciting for us to see all the children wear the color for the week. Our brave kids here at TLC tried green eggs and ham, and of course loved it! The unit for next week is Orange and Purple. We hope through our exploration of the colors, your child is becoming more and more familiar with different colors. Please stop in and check out the pictures we have posted up front so far!!

School Has begun, and we are sad to see summer leave but excited for a new school year. Our summer program was beyond wonderful and we hope the kids loved it as much as we did. Please make sure if your child is riding our vans that you call and let us know if they are not going to be riding for that day.

*Pre-School has started a new unit that explores colors. This week they are learning all about Red and Yellow. Next week we will move to Blue and Green.

Our next unit is Eric Carle. Get ready to see some amazing art work done by your very own children. We are so excited about introducing this unit to emphasize how important reading can be. Our summer school age program is going so great. This summer has been so amazing and we can't believe school is getting so near. Make sure if your child intends to stay here through the school year, they have a spot on our vans.
While many of you may be concerned about the heat, let us assure you we are taking all the necessary steps to keep them safe.

It's finally here!! Our Circus is tomorrow and the kids here could not be more excited. There will be a variety of games to choose from, where they can win some great prizes. Don't forget to dress silly like a clown or any character from the circus. We want to make sure this is a really great time for the kids. It will start at 9:00 and we will have games, popcorn, and sno cones. Please come in or call if you have any questions. Keep checking with us for some really great pictures from the event.

We have sat around our pretend camp fires this week and talked about fishing, camping, swimming, and all of the other fun things your kids came up with to top it off! To make our camping week extra special we are going to let the kids bring a sleeping bag tomorrow so that they can really get the full effect. Next week our unit will be over dinosaurs. I can tell they are pretty excited.

The kids have tried all kinds of fruit this week. We had grapes, strawberries, coconuts, and pineapples. Hopefully your child found a new favorite fruit! Next week we are starting our vegetable unit and have some pretty fun activities planned. The kids started their water play this week and will continue to do that every other Wednesday. It was so much fun watching them get to play in the water.

From sunshine to slip-n-slides, our school age kids have a jam packed summer ahead! Parents please feel free to grab one of our summer schedules in the front so that you know what activities your child will do this summer. The times are also noted so that you can have a better idea of drop-off and pick-up times. We are so excited about starting all of the fun! Our Bike day was a huge success. The kids had so much fun bringing their bikes and riding them. We have pictures put up in the lobby and would love for you to stop in and see them.

Crawling With Excitement

Don't be alarmed if your child has developed a new interest in creepy crawly insects. Our new unit has them exploring all types of bugs. From Grasshoppers to butterflies, they are learning about them all. We want to thank everyone who helped make our Muffins With Mom such a huge success. The kids really enjoyed making their mother's day gifts and we hope that each of our mom's loved them as well.

The kids have started studying animals and have been able to bring their pets from home to share with their classmates. They have had so much fun and we want to thank the parents that have helped out so far. We have been having so much fun this past week while the kids have been on Spring Break. The School Age room has been to the movies, to the park, and even skating. We can tell that the summer program is going to be a lot of fun! Don't forget that Easter is coming up and we have some really fun stuff planned for the kids to do. We are having an Easter Egg Hunt and would love if you could bring either plastic eggs or candy and of course their Easter basket by Wednesday. Santa Claus Came to TLC!!!!

First of all we would like to thank everyone involved for helping with our Christmas parties today. A special thank you goes out to Chet White (aka. Santa Claus) for coming and bringing a smile to the childrens faces (with an exception of a few!).
We also wanted to remind you all that we will be closing a 2pm on Christmas Eve, and we will be closed all day on Christmas Day! We will also be closed on New Year's Day!

CareBear Field Trip to the Pumpkin Patch!

Our CareBear classes will be going to Mary's Place Pumpkin Patch in Bryant on Friday, October 16 at 10am. The cost will be $7.50 per child and includes the following:

* A tractor drawn hayride
* A free pumpkin for each child
* Tent with picnic tables
* Playground
* 20x20 ft tree house
* Hay mountain to climb
* Concession stand
* Hay tunnel
* Petting zoo
* and plenty of photo oportunities!!!

All parents and chaperones can participate for free.

Police Man Visits School-Age

Corporal Chet White of the Arkansas State Police came to visit the school age children on Wednesday, July 29. He came to talk to them about bicycle safety and also showed them all of the aspects of his uniform. The children were all eager with many questions. They also got to go outside and see the police car. They got to see the lights and turn on the siren. Many of them had their picture taken in the car. Pictures will be posted to the front desk bulletin board shortly.

On the morning of Thursday, June 11th we are asking that you bring your childs "ride-on toy" to school. Our unit is transportation and as an activity for the week and we are going to take the children to the school age playground to ride their bicycles and tricycles.

It's that time of year again!!! Our Carebears are growing up and heading off to kindergarten. The classes are hard at work gearing up for preschool graduation; learning how to write and tie their shoes.
We will hold a graduation ceremony in our school-age room on Friday, May 29th at 9:00am.

Summer break is right around the corner and we have lots of activities planned for our school-aged kids. This summer we will have a "unit" for each week such as Olympic games, Celebrity, Luau, ect. Each class will have planned activities for each week.
We will be going on field trips to various places in Saline County such as Tinseltown Movie Theatre, Benton Skate Center, Mills Park Pool, and a few others.
In addition to these outings we will also have a talent show at the end of the summer and each week we will dress up for the current unit.

Friday is our book day; so bringing a book about love would be great! This will also be our party day. This week we have a special guest coming to visit. Santa will be here Wednesday, December 17th at nine o'clock. Please have your child's wrapped book here before that day, so we can have them organized for his visit. We will be taking photos of your child with Santa and will have them posted here on our website that afternoon. Also, please check your child's room for their party sign up lists. Our Christmas party will be immediately following your child's visit with Santa.

We have begun our four week long unit about Christmas. We are very busy decorating, making ornaments, and preparing for our Christmas parties, December 17th. Please look for sign-up sheets for party items in your child’s room. Santa will also be here the day of our party and will be handing out “presents” to each child. Please here your child’s wrapped book with their name on it here by Monday, December 15th. The Teddy Bear will be making Santa Cookies on Wednesday for Cook day. Care Bears will make Christmas trees to eat after their trip to Stoneybrook. The Pooh Bears will be enjoying Reindeer pudding.

This week will start our two week unit of Thanksgiving. The Care Bears will be baking the pumpkin pies to share with their guests at the feast. The Teddy Bears and Pooh Bears will be making pumpkin pies for their feast in their rooms.
The Care Bears are working very hard on their Thanksgiving feast. They are so excited about performing for you on Thursday, November 20th. The feast will begin at 12:00. It will only last about an hour, so please try to make a point to have a guest for your child.
Just a reminder, we will be closed November 27th, to celebrate Thanksgiving with our families.

We have decided to change things a little and we will be starting our “Go West” unit this week. Wednesday, we will be making Cowboy and Cowgirl cookies for cook day. Thursday, we are bringing Cowboy and Cowgirl toys, except stick horses. We will want those Friday for our “Camp out” and horse races.
The Care Bears are working very hard on their Thanksgiving feast. They are so excited about performing for you on Thursday, November 20th. The feast will begin at 12:00.
The proofs from picture day should be back really soon. You'll have about a week to decide on the packages you would like to purchase. This will give them plenty of time to have them back in time for Christmas.

The Halloween parade, carnival, and parties were a great hit. Thank you to all the parents for their help with everything today. We greatly appreciate everything you have done.
For the next two weeks, we will be learning about Fall. We will be painting fall leaves, making collages, leaf prints, and all sorts of other fun art activities. The Care Bears, Pooh Bears, and Teddy Bears will be making cornucopias for their cook day snacks.

*Picture Day*
November 7th is our picture day! We will be starting no later than 9:00.

The Care Bears are also beginning to prepare for the Thanksgiving Feast. Our Feast will be on Thursday, November 20th. Please be sure to reserve that date; you will truly enjoy the food and the songs that your child has practiced! Each Care Bear will be allowed to bring two guests.

Friday is our Halloween carnival; please send your child in their costume. You may want to send extra clothes for them to change into after the carnival and their parties. The Care Bears had a great time at Motely's Pumpkin Patch. They were so well behaved. They enjoyed snack while watching pig races, the farm zoo and playing in the hay playground. Finally, we picked out our pumpkins and ate our picnic lunch.
This is the last week of our color unit. We will be talking about Black. Teddy Bears, Pooh Bears and Care Bears will all be baking "Spider cookies" on Wednesday. Thursday is the day to bring your favorite black toy. Friday we will all be wearing Black and reading books about black.

It is also that time to sign up for party items in your child's classroom. Be sure to check their list by the sign out sheets. Each child needs to bring a bag of individually wrapped candy by October 29th.

This the fifth week of our colors unit. We will be talking about purple. The Teddy Bears are making Jello Jigglers. The Pooh Bears and Care Bears are making Daisy Biscuits. Don't forget to bring a purple toy on Thursday and a book about purple on Friday! We will also be wearing purple on Friday.

The Care Bears will be going to Motley's Pumpkin Patch October 17th. We will be leaving at 9:00 a.m. and will have a snack there. It is time gear up for school! Just a few reminders for our van riders:
The vans will be loading and leaving for Westbrook, Angie Grant, Howard Perrin, Caldwell and Ringgold by 7:20! Due to the distances driven or the combination of schools, we cannot wait to on anyone to arrive.
After school van riders, we need a phone call if your child is absent from school, has been checked out, or is a car rider. This way we won't be looking for them. This is a courtesy to the other children waiting on the van, our staff and parents waiting here while we are trying to locate someone.

It is time for our Summer unit to begin! We will be talking about all the fun parts of summer for the next two weeks! Please ask your child all about their interesting discoveries. They are sure to be excited!

The Pooh Bears and Care Bears had a great time this past week making their own lunches and picnicking outside in the beautiful sunshine. It was such a great way to wrap up our "All About Me" unit.

Graduation was great today! Thank you to all of the families that were able to participate in all the festivities. Thank you for letting us be a part of your child's preschool foundation. It has been such a wonderful experience for all of us. Congratulations to all of our graduates: Taylor Bean, Summer Casteel, Sarah Cooper, Jordan Davis, Jon Farley, Jackson Kiker, Kendal Kyle, Brooks Nail, Hunter Newlun, Tori Pearson, Hannah Sanders, and Madison Tindall. We wish you all the best and know that you will all be a joy to your kindergarten teachers.

We are now beginning our All About Me unit. We will be talking about all the things that make us different. We will need a baby picture of your child, which we will be returning. There will not be too much art sent home over the next few weeks. Their teachers will be keeping it to send home in their books.

Thank you to all the Care Bear mothers that came to out tea. It was beautiful and they were so proud of all their hard work.

Care Bear Graduation will be on May 30th, for those who will be heading on to kindergarten.
